3 LITTLE PIGS from Green Jelly

Rewind 16 years ago.

I was 12 years-old and SBC 5 (later became TCS 5 and subsequently Media Corp) was my best friend. Saturdays just ain't the same without the Billboard 100 show. Masa tu jangan kata Astro, Mega TV pun takde lagi so Channel 5 was the main source of entertainment (ada jugak series yang lahanat macam Days of Our Live).

At that time I recalled one song that was among the top 20 and apparently was a hit because of the unique video clips. And the lyrics, is fucking funny. About this song, Green Jelly gave their own feel to the song, a metal feel and comedy. Another interesting fact about this song is, Maynard James Keenan (Tools & A Perfect Circle leadman) made a cameo, he sang the falsetto line "NOT BY THE HAIR OF MY CHINNY, CHIN, CHIN!!". Itulah highlight lawak untuk lagu ni, but to imagine Maynard doing that...funny but strange. (Maynard was the roommate of Green Jelly singer, Bill Manspeaker). Maynard is a damn serious dude.

The band's history, filled with controversies.

• Originally named Green Jello, but due to lawsuit by Kraft (owner of Jell-O brand) they change their name to Green Jelly. ha ha
  
• Sued by Kellog Company, due to the Toucan Sam character infringement. ha ha ha
  
• Sued by Metallica management due for duplicating the Enter Sandman riff for their song Electric Harley (House of Love). ha ha

So going to school, hearing classmates sang the line "NOT BY THE HAIR OF MY CHINNY, CHIN, CHIN!!"

I will replied, "ooo...jadi kau la babi tuh kan...ha ha ha".

I See Garbage Truck

I recalled last year, my beloved wife sent me the David J. Pollay's The Law of The Garbage Truck and I posted the story here. Last Sunday, when I was totally had nothing to do, I blog hopped and I found out that the garbage truck story really can be connected in the blogosphere. Sambil makan popcorn aku baca satu persatu entry dan juga komen. Penuh drama. Betul, tak tipu. Serius diorang ni banyak masa free. Ha ha. Anyway, this is the garbage truck story.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. And I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here’s what happened.

I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, the car skidded, the tires squealed, and at the very last moment our car stopped just one inch from the other car’s back-end.

I couldn’t believe it. But then I couldn’t believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. How do I know? Ask any New Yorker, some words in New York come with a special face. And he even threw in a one finger salute! I couldn’t believe it!

But then here’s what really blew me away. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that!? This guy could have killed us!” And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck™.” He said:

"Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you. So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier."

I see garbage trucks. Every Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. MPJBT dengan jayanya angkat sampah di kawasan rumah aku pada hari-hari tersebut. Tak payah la susah-susah aku nak komplen kat Harian Metro. :)

Liverpool can still win the Champion League

Sehari sesudah match Liverpool v Chelski, 5 orang (semua fan Manure) email gambar ni kat aku. Memang lahanat.

Minggu mendebarkan dunia bolasepak

....bukan UCL tapi team Liga M. Memang jahanam sebab result, Liv 1 - 3 Chelski. Tapi nasib baik la Liverpool yang kalah 3-1. Kalau Kelantan yang kalah 3-1 jadi padang polo la Stadium Sultan Mohamed ke-IV tu.

Ain't No Traffic Jam on Fridays

Since I wrote about recession a month ago, the conditions are really getting much worst since then. Now we are in the first quarter of 2009 and the condition has become less than wonderful. Two of my neighboring factory are in deep shit. So going to work on Fridays at much ease now, no more hectic traffic along the way.

One of the contract manufacturer are still in negotiation for manufacturing contract, if they don't receive any contract soon, they are on the verge of shutting down their operation...gila ahhh. Just imagine, at peak of their income, they gave out 5-6 month bonus to their employees. Now, struggling to survive. Contract manufacturers are suffering the most this time round. They depend a lot from the main manufacturer/firm. Alas, even the main manufacturer now collapsed. Intel, Dell, Sony, Qimonda, Seagate...all in the list. Expect more workers to be released in near future. Thousands. And hearing the 2nd stimulus package...I can only....ha ha. Wtf...is this for real?

A little update, we just moved to our own home. My back are aching like hell due to excessive painting and furniture arrangement.Tu pon ada yang tolong. Kalau tak, I am dead....And for the past few weeks, I've been drowned by work at office, seminars, exhibition, presentation etc etc. Plus, to prepare our new home.

With the new fiscal year coming up next month, my boss already lined up the new KPI. I've been assigned to a new task. Well, I am not really surprised because from time to time he have telling me about efficient operation and all and ask me to study this and that. I am always comfortable with innovation and development, so this transition will be a daunting task, moving away from my comfort zone (for this, I always bear in mind that even Gerrard need to play at left side of midfield...bole tak gua compare dengan Gerrard...ha ha).

So after seeing the KPI draft, what I need to do next is, digging deep from Google for courses/seminars/infos. Tanpa Google, sapa lah aku :). "We are moving from productive operation to efficient operation," that's what I heard. The bright side of it, I explore new things. Takdela bosan sangat, and during this trying time...it's good to have assignments. ;)
